The scorching heat in many parts of the country including the capital Delhi has broken records this time. In many cities the temperature has crossed 45 degrees Celsius. The afternoon sun looks as if it is raining fire. There is silence on the streets, people are forced to stay in their homes. Most of the concern has increased regarding children, because they have to face strong sunlight and hot wind while going to school. This is the reason why many state governments, keeping in mind the children, have either postponed or extended the school summer holidays.
States like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Punjab have released holiday schedules for schools. Education departments of many states have also given separate instructions to schools. Schools have been asked to keep outdoor activities closed until the holidays start. Classes should be taken in the morning shift only.
What is the condition of Delhi-UP?
If we, schools in the country’s capital Delhi will remain closed from 11 May to 1 July 2026. The temperature here is continuously increasing and hot winds have made the situation difficult. At the same time, UP is also in the same condition as the capital regarding heat. There will be school holidays from 20th May to 15th June 2026. In districts like Noida and Ghaziabad, even before the holidays, school timings have been changed from 7 am to 12 noon.

So many holidays in Bihar and Rajasthan
If we talk about Bihar adjoining UP, schools in the state will remain closed from June 1 to June 20, 2026. However, the heat is not less here either. On the other hand, the government in Rajasthan has declared summer holidays from 17 May to 20 June 2026. The temperature has reached above 45 degrees in many cities here.
When are the holidays in Haryana and Punjab?
There will be school holiday in Haryana from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The government has asked schools to strictly follow the new schedule. Summer vacations of schools will start in Punjab from May 25. After the holidays, classes will start again from 1st July.

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, school holidays were declared from 24th April, which will continue till 11th June 2026. At the same time, school holidays were declared in Odisha from 27th April. Schools are closed in Chhattisgarh from 20 April to 15 June 2026.
