CUET-UG 2026 exam postponed, both shifts of May 28 postponed, new date to be announced soon

National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken a big decision regarding CUET-UG 2026 examination. The examination to be held on May 28 has been postponed for the time being. This decision has been taken by the Central Government after changing the date of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) holiday. In such a situation, the candidates whose examination was scheduled on this day will now have to wait for the new date. NTA has made it clear that the revised schedule will be released soon.

Why was the exam postponed

According to NTA, the government has changed the date of holiday of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid). Keeping this in mind, both the shifts of CUET-UG examination to be held on 28 May 2026 have been postponed.

The agency has clarified that the examinations for both morning and afternoon shifts scheduled on May 28 will no longer be held. This decision will be applicable to all the candidates appearing for the exam on this day. News agency ANI has also shared this information through its X handle.

NTA has said that the new exam date for the affected candidates will be announced soon. Students have been advised to keep checking the official website regularly so that they can get the latest updates.

What is CUET-UG exam?

CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test) is a national level entrance examination conducted across the country. Through this, one can get admission in undergraduate courses in more than 280 institutions including central, state and private universities.

NTA has also issued an official order in this regard, in which the memorandum of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) dated May 22 has been cited. Besides, students have also been given the facility to seek help through helpline number and email.
