Eye patients have increased in Rampur District Hospital, know why there is problem in summer season?

Due to the scorching heat, the cases of eye related diseases are continuously increasing. Meanwhile, 40-50 patients are reaching the OPD of Rampur District Hospital every day with eye complaints. In view of the rising temperatures, the health department has come on alert mode and people are being appealed to be cautious.

How are the symptoms visible?

The effect of increasing heat in the weather is now clearly visible on people’s eyes. The number of eye patients at Rampur District Hospital and community health centers in rural areas is increasing rapidly. Problems like watering of eyes, itching, swelling, redness and pain have become common in patients.

The doctor told the reason

Dr. Sanjay Kapoor says that due to strong sunlight, dust and hot winds, cases of eye infections and allergies are increasing. The hospital administration has made special arrangements for the treatment of these patients and adequate availability of medicines has been ensured.

Do not be careless even by mistake

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepa Singh said that it is common for eye problems to increase in summer, but carelessness can be dangerous. He has appealed to the people not to take medicines from medical stores without doctor’s advice and in case of any problem, immediately go to the nearest hospital or CHC/PHC and get checked. He told that at present the health department is fully alert, but amidst the increasing heat, people also need to be aware about their health, so that these eye problems can be avoided.

These eye diseases occur more frequently in summers

Stye or cavity: In summer, due to sweat and dirt, the glands of the eyelids get infected with bacteria, due to which small pimples appear on the edge of the eyelid. Its symptoms are red swelling at the edge of the eyelid, pain, prickling sensation and discomfort on touching.

Harm from UV rays: The ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun falling directly on the eyes can cause damage to the cornea. It can also be called ‘sunburn of the eyes’. Its symptoms are discomfort due to bright light, redness in the eyes, severe pain and watering.

Corneal ulcer: If eyes are rubbed too much due to allergies or dry eyes or contact lenses are not kept clean, injuries can occur on the cornea. This may increase in summer due to the growth of bacteria.
