Can Bluetooth Earbuds Cause Brain Cancer: Nowadays, Bluetooth earbuds and wireless headphones have become a part of people’s everyday life. From office calls to gym, travel and even listening to podcasts at bedtime, people use them for hours. But with their increasing use, a question is also becoming increasingly discussed, can using Bluetooth earbuds for a long time increase the risk of brain cancer?
How does Bluetooth technology work?
Actually Bluetooth technology works through radio frequency i.e. RF radiation. This is the reason why many people get scared about it, because as soon as they hear the word radiation, diseases like cancer come to mind. However, experts say that the radiation emitted from Bluetooth devices falls in the category of “non-ionizing radiation”, which is quite different from dangerous ionizing radiation like X-rays.
Does it have any effect if used for hours?
According to Dr. Ken Foster, Bioengineering Professor Emeritus of the University of Pennsylvania, the radiation emitted from Bluetooth devices is much less than that of mobile phones. He told Health that even if a person uses wireless earbuds for hours, his radiation exposure is considered less than talking with the phone held to his ear.
Can Bluetooth harm our DNA?
Experts say that ionizing radiation can damage the body’s DNA and increase the risk of cancer. But Bluetooth devices use non-ionizing radiation, which does not have enough energy to damage cells in the same way. This is the reason why no research has yet proven a direct relationship between Bluetooth earbuds and brain cancer. However, scientists also believe that more research is needed on wireless devices and RF radiation. Currently, no concrete evidence has been found in the available studies to suggest that Bluetooth earbuds cause brain tumors or cancer.

What precautions should be taken while using?
Dr. Ken Foster says that if a person wants to be extra careful, he can remove the earbuds when not needed or use wired headphones. But according to him, people should be more concerned about the dangers that can cause immediate harm, such as listening to loud music for a long time. According to experts, using earbuds at a higher volume than necessary can affect the hearing ability. Therefore, it is advisable to limit the use of headphones to 60 to 90 minutes, take breaks in between and do not keep the volume more than 60 to 80 percent.
