Signs Of Iron Deficiency During Pregnancy: Becoming a mother is a very special experience in every woman’s life. Amidst the happiness of the family, preparation for the new guest and the glow of the face, there is a problem hidden which is often not noticed, that is the lack of essential nutrients in the body. Even today, a large number of pregnant women in India are suffering from iron, vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficiency. The problem is that the symptoms of these deficiencies appear gradually and most women ignore them considering them to be a part of normal pregnancy. Signs like fatigue, dizziness, body ache, weakness, sleep problems or mood swings sometimes indicate lack of nutrition in the body.
Why is there no need for nutrition during pregnancy?
According to the Health Ministry report, anemia is still very common among women of reproductive age in India and the problem becomes more serious during pregnancy. Dr. Shweta Mendiratta says that during pregnancy, major changes take place in a woman’s body, hence the need for nutrition also increases significantly. But many women enter this period with weak nutritional levels even before pregnancy. Years of wrong eating habits, stress, work pressure and lack of blood during menstruation make the body weaker than before.
What is lacking the most during pregnancy?
Iron deficiency is the most common problem seen in pregnant women. During pregnancy, the body has to make more blood for the development of the child, due to which the need for iron increases. Iron deficiency can cause problems like extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness and weakness. In serious conditions, the risk of premature delivery and low birth weight of the child also increases. According to doctors, taking Vitamin C with iron-rich food can be beneficial. Like putting lemon on spinach or eating tomato with lentils improves the absorption of iron in the body.

Why is there vitamin deficiency despite sunshine?
Despite abundant sunshine in India, Vitamin D deficiency is also increasing rapidly. Modern lifestyle is considered to be the main reason for this. People spend most of the time inside home or office, due to which the body does not get enough sunlight. Vitamin D is very important for the child’s bone development, immune system and absorption of calcium. Research has also revealed that its deficiency can increase the risk of problems like gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. Many researches by the National Institutes of Health and Indian Medical Institutes have raised concerns about Vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women.
keep this in mind
At the same time, Vitamin B12 deficiency is also increasing rapidly, especially among vegetarian women. This vitamin is considered essential for the development of the child’s brain and nervous system. Its deficiency can cause problems like weakness, poor memory and tingling in the body. Experts say that during pregnancy, it is more important not to just eat too much, but to take balanced and nutritious food.
