There is a big relief news for the candidates preparing for UGC NET June 2026 exam. National Testing Agency i.e. has extended the last date of online application for UGC NET June 2026 examination. Now candidates will be able to apply till 23 May 2026. Earlier the last date of application was fixed as May 20, but this decision was taken in view of the demand of the students and technical problems.
Students heaved a sigh of relief
Every year lakhs of candidates appear in the UGC NET exam. This time also a large number of students are applying. Many candidates had complained about slow website and difficulty in uploading documents during application. After this, NTA decided to extend the date of application. According to the new information, candidates can fill the application form till 23 May 2026 at 10 am. The last date for depositing the fees has been fixed till 23 May at 11:50 pm.
Who can apply
Only those candidates can apply for the UGC NET June 2026 exam who have completed master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 percent marks. Final year or final semester students are also eligible to apply. Apart from this, candidates with 4-year bachelor’s degree are also allowed to apply. The maximum age limit for JRF has been kept at 31 years, whereas there is no maximum age limit for NET. Relaxation will be given to reserved categories as per rules.

application fee
The application fee for general category candidates has been kept at Rs 1150. EWS and OBC category candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 600, while for SC, ST and PwD candidates the application fee has been fixed at Rs 325. Fees can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking and e-challan.
when will the exam be held
According to the schedule released by NTA, UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted between June 22 and June 30, 2026. The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test i.e. CBT mode. After the completion of the examination, the answer key will be released and then the result will be declared.
