Loneliness Heart Disease Risks: Nowadays, many people feel lonely even while living in a crowd, but do you know that this loneliness is not only a mental condition but can also cause serious diseases of the body. Recently, a big and shocking research has revealed that people who feel more lonely have an increased risk of getting heart valve disease. This study has been published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. In such a situation, let us know why loneliness increases the risk of heart disease in adults and what was found in the study.
Which heart disease is associated with increased risk of loneliness in adults?
Loneliness increases the risk of heart valve disease in adults. There are four main valves in the heart, which control the proper flow of blood. When any of these valves does not function properly, it is called Valvular Heart Disease. In this disease, blood does not flow properly from the heart. There is extra pressure on the heart, gradually the heart can become weak and in serious cases, surgery may be required.
What was found in the study?
About 4.63 lakh people were included in this research, who were associated with UK Biobank. The health of these people was tracked for almost 14 years. People who felt more lonely were found to have a 19 percent higher risk of heart valve disease. Whereas the risk of Aortic valve stenosis increased by 21 percent and the risk of Mitral valve regurgitation was found to increase by 23 percent.
Why loneliness increases heart disease risk in adults
A very interesting thing came out in the study that when a person feels alone from within, then the person becomes less similar to others. Research has found that just feeling lonely is linked to heart disease, but living alone was not found to be a direct cause. Scientists say that this study is observational. This does not prove that loneliness directly causes disease, but there does appear to be a strong connection between the two.

What is the opinion of experts?
Experts say that loneliness is not just an emotional problem, it also affects the body. This should be taken seriously and doctors should also talk to patients about their mental condition. According to the expert, if loneliness is reduced, the pace of heart disease can slow down and in many cases the need for surgery can also be avoided. As age increases the risk of heart diseases increases. At the same time, loneliness also starts increasing. Therefore, this risk may be even higher in elderly people.
