JEE Main 2026: Questions raised on answer key, NTA starts review process; This appeal was made to the students

JEE Main 2026: The engineering admission examination JEE Main is considered to be one of the most important examinations in the country. Every year lakhs of students spend several years preparing for this examination, so that they can get admission in the prestigious institutions of the country. In such a situation, any kind of mistake or disturbance related to the examination becomes a cause of anxiety and stress for the students.

A similar topic of discussion remains in JEE Main Session 2 of the year 2026. In this discussion, a controversy arose regarding the answer key of the Chemistry section of the examination (Shift 2) held on 5th April. Many students claimed that there are some mistakes in the answer key, which may affect their marks. The issue quickly gained attention on social media and students, parents and teachers expressed their concerns.

What did NTA say about Chemistry section answer key?

Responding to this entire matter, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that the complaints related to irregularities in the Chemistry paper have been taken seriously and they are being investigated. NTA has also appealed to the students not to deposit any fee for challenging the answer key until an official clarification is issued on this matter. The agency acknowledged that this situation has caused inconvenience to the students and also expressed regret for it.

Students dispute on social media

After this incident, the anger of the students was clearly visible on social media. Many students raised questions on the functioning of NTA and demanded to release the correct answer key quickly. Some students say that such a mistake can affect their future, because in an examination like JEE, every mark is very important. Students and parents also said that such mistakes should not happen in such a big examination and responsibility should be fixed for it.

When was the provisional answer key released?

NTA had released the provisional answer key of JEE Main Session 2 (Paper 1 – BE/BTech) on 11 April 2026. Along with this, students were also given the opportunity to see their response sheet and register objection on the answer key. Students can check their details by logging on to the official website.

When and how was JEE Main 2026 exam held?

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam was conducted between April 2 and April 8. This examination was conducted in Computer Based (CBT) mode and was conducted at 566 examination centers across the country. Apart from this, the examination was also conducted in 14 cities abroad. In which about 11.23 lakh students took part in this examination.

Chemistry Section Answer Key Challenge and Fees

Usually, students pay a fee of Rs 200 per question to challenge the provisional answer key, but this time NTA has specifically asked the students for the Chemistry paper of Shift 2 of April 5 not to pay any fee yet and wait for the official update first. NTA will release the final answer key on 20 April 2026 after examining all the objections and complaints. If any mistake is found in the examination, it will be corrected and on the basis of that the final marks of the students will be decided.
