This code will be included in the ICD-10 system used by doctors. So far, this system covers common vaccine-related reactions and reactions to certain specific vaccines, but there is no designation for the Covid vaccine, the safety of which has become a major issue of debate within the administration.

It is being told that if this proposal is implemented then doctors will be able to better identify such cases where some patients have suffered side effects after the Covid vaccine. Regarding this proposal, CDC’s Health Information Specialist Mary Stanfill said that the code is used for insurance payments as well as for research and statistical analysis. It is being told that currently suggestions have been sought from the people on this proposal, the last date of which has been fixed for May. If it is approved, the new code can be implemented by 2027.
