Everest Masala Lab Test Report: Recently, there was a lot of discussion on social media regarding the quality of some products of the famous Indian spice brand Everest. The matter came to light when a YouTube channel named Trustified released a video on March 1, 2026, claiming that some of Everest’s masala products did not meet the standards set in lab testing. According to the video, the channel purchased these spices from D-Mart store and then sent their samples to the lab for testing.
do not meet set standards
It was told in the video that three packets of each spice were purchased, out of which one packet was sent for testing. The products tested included Everest Garam Masala, Everest Kitchen King Masala, Everest Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder and Everest Meat Masala. The channel said that these spices were tested to find out whether they meet the safety limits set by the Indian Food Safety and Standards Authority of India or not.
What came in the result?
According to the results shared in the video, two pesticides were found in the Everest Garam Masala sample in excess of the prescribed limit. Their names were stated as acetamiprid and azoxystrobin. Apart from this, the amount of bacteria of Enterobacteriaceae family was also found to be high in the sample.

This issue later also came up for discussion on the social media platform X. A user asked the AI-based chatbot Grok a question about Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. The user reported that this bacteria group includes many bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella, which are often found associated with food contamination. In response, Grok said that many bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family can cause stomach related problems. If contaminated food is consumed, problems like diarrhea, vomiting, stomach ache and food poisoning can occur.
What do experts say?
Experts say that the presence of Enterobacteriaceae in spices sometimes indicates problems related to cleaning or processing. This could mean that the raw spices were not cleaned properly or that hygiene was not maintained during the drying and packing process. According to a research report published in the International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences, if food items that contain high amounts of pesticides are consumed for a long time, it can have an impact on the body. Over time, residues of these chemicals can accumulate in the body and affect the liver, intestines and nervous system. Its risk is considered higher especially for children, elderly and people with weak immunity.
