New Research On Human Lifespan Extension: The idea of prolonging human life has been attracting scientists for a long time. Recently, a Chinese biotech company has started a new debate on this topic.
Shenzhen-based startup Lonvi Biosciences claims that it has developed an experimental pill, with the help of which human lifespan can reach up to 150 years in the future. According to the company, their research is focused on removing those harmful cells present in the body, which accelerate the aging process. According to reports surfaced on social media and scientific forums, this medicine uses elements obtained from grape seeds, which target specific types of cells present in the body. These cells are commonly called “zombie cells”.
What are called zombie cells?
In scientific terms these are called senescent cells. These are cells that have become damaged or old and stop dividing, but do not die. Instead, they remain in the body and release chemicals that cause inflammation into the surrounding area. Over time, accumulation of these cells can give rise to many problems in the body. Scientists believe that these cells can play a role in diseases that occur with increasing age such as heart disease, arthritis and neurological problems.

How can the medicine work?
The company claims that this pill can help in eliminating these bad cells present in the body with the help of compounds made from grape seeds. If these cells can be reduced then the swelling in the body and damage to the tissues can be reduced. In research related to longevity, scientists are already working on drugs called senolytics, whose objective is to destroy these old cells. Some positive results have also been seen in initial experiments on animals, such as improved physical ability and delay in age-related decline.

However, scientists say that it may take a long time to prove any such medicine safe and effective for humans. Any new therapy has to go through several phases of clinical trials before reaching the common people.
