Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made a dreadful prediction about India’s neighboring country Pakistan. AI has said that Pakistan will face flood every 15 years. It has also warned about drought. If we look at the weather of the last few years, then this prophecy does not seem away from reality. After this prediction of AI, fear has spread among the Pakistani people and people are discussing this report.
Global warming will become the reason
Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) professor Jonghun Kama and his team have issued a warning regarding Pakistan’s future. With the help of AI, this team has predicted that in the next few years, Pakistan will have to face repeated floods and terrible droughts. Due to the ever increasing global warming, such fluctuations will be seen in the weather. Rivers like Indus are the lifeline of Pakistan and the cultivation, energy and everyday need are fulfilled by these rivers. However, climate change has made the situation serious. Especially in the upper parts where glaciers are melting rapidly, which is affecting the flow of rivers.
Why AI was helped?
Tradition climate models are unable to function properly in areas with mountains and tight valleys. Sometimes they record rain less and sometimes more. The weather cannot be estimated properly from this. To avoid this, Professor Kama’s team trained the AI model on the real data of the previous years. This made it easier to estimate accurately. This team has told that the area of upper Indus river will struggle with severe floods and terrible droughts every 15 years. At the same time, this situation can be seen every 11 years in other nearby rivers.
