UPSC, ie Union Public Service Commission, is a constitutional body of the Government of India, which conducts competitive examinations across the country for Group A and Group B government jobs. What exams do UPSC conduct?
1. Civil Services Exam – CSE – This is the most famous exam, which is appointed to posts like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS. It consists of three stages, prelims, mains and interview.
2. Indian Forest Service – IFOS – In this, officers are recruited to protect the environment, forest and wildlife. Its preliminary examination is done with CSE, but the main examination and selection process is different.
3. Engineering Services Examination (ESE / IES) – In this, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering Graduates are selected. Those who become officers in places like Railways, Defense, Central Engineering Service.
4. Combined Defense Services – CDS – In this, the candidates selected get an opportunity to become officers in the Army, Navy and Air Force. It is admitted to IMA, INA, AFA and OTA through CDS.
5. National Defense Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination – This exam is given after 12th. In this, the candidates who have passed in it are made officers in the army after training in NDA and NA.
6. CAPF (Assistant Commandant) Examination – This exam gives an opportunity to become Assistant Commandant in Central Armed Police Forces like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB. It consists of physical test, written examination and interview.
7. Indian Economic Service, Statistics Service (IES / ISS) – In this exam, experts are recruited in Economic and Statistics Departments. Undergraduate and post graduate students associated with Economics and Statistics can participate in it.
8. Combined Geo-Scientist Exam- Through this examination, recruitment is made to Geologist, Hydrogeologist, Chemist and related posts.
9. Indian Corporate Law Services (ICLS) – In this exam, there is a service under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Law graduates and corporate law have a great opportunity for people involved.
10. Combined Medical Services – CMSE – These exams are for a doctor’s post in government hospitals and institutions. Students with MBBS degrees can participate in it.
