It is difficult to fulfill a big dream like IIT, but if there is a challenge like illness in life, then this journey becomes more difficult. Nevertheless, Riddhima Paul of Kanpur did this. Riddhima, who is suffering from a serious illness called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), never gave up and encouraged her dreams.
Riddhima’s body is weak, cannot walk, stays in wheelchair, but her mind and courage are no less than anyone. This year, she is going to make her career in computer science by taking admission in IIT Kanpur. Her studies will be completed by 2025-26 and she is dreaming of becoming a great software engineer.
Passion was seen since childhood
Riddhima says that her childhood was different from the rest of the children. Did not get a chance to play in school, but always topped studies. The family also never let his spirits break. Despite the illness, he shocked everyone by scoring brilliant points in class 12.
A new challenge every day
Riddhima says that “every day brings a new challenge for me. It is not just a matter of physical trouble, but also a mental strength test. Many times the situation is such that it seems difficult to move forward, but when there is a dream in the mind and the family is with them, then nothing is impossible.”
How was IIT’s dream fulfilled?
Riddhima had a dream to read in the most prestigious engineering institutions in the country. He prepared JEE (JEE) and sat at home through online classes. Sometimes there was a problem of electricity or internet, but he did not give up. He studied for hours every day and on the result, his name was selected in IIT Kanpur.
Expect treatment abroad
Treatment of spinal muscular atrophy is not fully available in India. In this disease, the muscles slowly stop working. Riddhima says that her dream is not only to fulfill studies, but also to live a normal life by getting treatment. For this, they will have to go abroad, where the cost of treatment is very high. Bollywood actress daughter Meghna has also promised to help Riddhima. After his story went viral on social media, many people have come forward, so that he can raise the necessary money for treatment.
What does Riddhima want to do by reaching IIT?
Riddhima wants to create software and apps that can help physically weak people after completing their studies. She says that I want technology to be used not only to earn profits, but to bring changes in the society.
