There will be an option to reserve username
By going to the setting of the app, users will get a chance to reserve their handle. This means that when Meta rolls out this feature, then users will be able to make that handle their username. Once reserved the handle, no other user will be able to copy it. This feature is already present on WhatsApp’s competition apps like signal and telegram. Even users on Apple’s iMasage can connect to other people with the help of email address.
Why need a new feature needed?
From launching till now an account can be made on WhatsApp only through phone number. This is very easy and it makes people searching quite easy to search, but it also threatens privacy.
