People’s jobs are at risk due to Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to Jared Kaplan, Chief Scientist of Anthropic, AI will very soon take away people’s jobs. He said that in the next two-three years, AI will start doing mostly white collar jobs i.e. office work. Kaplan said that AI is progressing rapidly and it will soon overtake humans and will later design its own successor. If this happens, the biggest threat will arise before humanity.
Humans will compete with machines – Kaplan
Kaplan said that AI is improving so fast that the new generation will have to compete with machines very soon. Giving an example, he said that I have a six-year-old child and he can never be better than AI in academic work.
The time from 2027 to 2030 will be the turning point – Kaplan.
Kaplan believes that the time from 2027 to 2030 could prove to be a turning point. By that time, AI systems themselves will start designing and training their successor i.e. the next variant. This can prove to be a big opportunity as well as a big threat. He said that in this process an AI system is as intelligent as you. He is creating AI more intelligent and smarter than himself and he is creating AI smarter than himself. This is a very scary process and no one knows where it will stop.
Kaplan sees these dangers
He said that there are two big dangers if this happens. The first danger is that of the AI system going out of control. What if they refuse to obey human commands and won’t they pose any threat to humanity? Talking about the second danger, Kaplan said what would happen if these systems fall into the wrong hands. If this happens, its consequences can be serious.
