According to the report, the Babu of Postal Department comes in Level-2 of the pay matrix. Its grade pay is Rs 1900. According to the 7th Pay Commission, Babu’s basic salary has been fixed at Rs 19,900. But in a government job, not only the basic salary is given, but many allowances are also added to it.

These allowances include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Traveling Allowance (TA) and other departmental allowances. When all these are added, the total in-hand salary of a Babu comes to approximately Rs 37,120 to Rs 39,370. This is the reason why this job remains popular among the youth.

What is fitment factor?

Whenever a new pay commission comes, the most talked about thing is the fitment factor. Fitment factor is a kind of multiplying figure, on the basis of which the new salary is decided. While deciding this, the government looks at how much inflation has increased in the country, what are the needs of the employees and how much expenditure the government can bear. The fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission was 2.57 times. On this basis, the new salary of the employees was decided. Now it is expected that in the 8th Pay Commission this factor may go up to 2.86.
